Athletic Performance Centre at Workouts!
The Athletic Performance Centre is based at Workouts Health Club. Here we can work on the Prehab and Rehab of sportspeople from any field of activity. How do we differ from just workin'out at the gym or doing club training sessions?
Well for a start the centre offers a specialist service based on 25 years knowledge and experience to help unlock elite physical performance on a one-to-one coaching basis.
With Pre-hab work the target is to ensure the individual has dynamic balance to their physique and we concentrate on holistic physical performance smoothing out single-side bias, enhancing pillar development and rotary power. Strength and Speed progressions are a typical requirement for all sports people along with improved flexibility and stamina training.
With Rehab we work to promote safe but, enhanced recovery rates working around the injury where possible and maximising the work the individual can do with regards to the cardio-vascular system.
We work with Club Physios, Doctors and the individual's Consultant Specialist to ensure everyone is up to speed with the players rehabilitation.
The Centre is experienced in professional Strength and Fitness Conditioning notably within the worlds of Rugby League, Rugby Union, Soccer and Golf. Much work with professionals has been done with a 'behind the scenes, backroom approach' but we now feel the time is right to promote our work to a more broad spectrum of clients and advertise our product with greater enthusiasm.
Currently we are working with: - Richard Moore, Prehab and close season conditioning ready for the ex-Bradford Bulls forwards preseason with new club Wakefield Trinity Wildcats. Richard has completed a 4 week one-to-one programme where he has lost over 14lbs in body weight (all fat!) dropping from 18st 13lbs to 17st 12lbs! His cardiovascular-recovery time has improved dramatically and improvements in his flexibility are progressing - he is now doing his pre-season stuff with Wakefield.
Ryan Macdonald, Rehab (former Super League Player with Widnes, now restarting his career with York City Knights RLFC) Acute and Chronic damage to Rotator Cuff and recovery from Radius and Ulna breakage. Ryan's rehab is going great - he has a good range of movement in his damaged shoulder and his forearm has shown a marked improvement in strength. His recovery fitness levels are now very good and he is ready to start his pre-season training with York.
Daryl Ley (European Tour Pro Golf Player) Prehab, Core Stabilisation and Pillar Strength and Flexibility Tobias Williams, Prehab (York City Knights) Dynamic Movement and Pillar Conditioning Danny Ekis, Prehab (Hunslet Hawks) Close season preparation Gareth Greenwood, Prehab (Hunslet Hawks) Close season preparation
Chris Melling, (Two times World Pool Champion and elite Snooker Professional) has signed up with The Athletic Performance Centre to improve his fitness levels and reduce body fat prior to major competitions in the New Year.
History Lesson...
A major Rehab success in 2003 was the return of Jason Ramshaw for his final season with Keighley Cougars, following a year out due to shoulder surgery, which saw him lift the NL2 Grand Final Trophy in his last pro game.
Following discussions Blackburn Rovers FC Head of Fitness, Dr. Tony Strudwick links are being formed to assist Academy Players in an Out Reach Programme for Prehab work.
The Centre aims to support the individual with a programme of sessions based on weekly blocks where the individuals 'stay' over in a training camp environment. Obviously this can also be for shorter or longer durations.
