Established in 1991, founder/gym owner Paul Royston is delighted to announce his family owned business will shortly be owned by Nathan De Asha and Nick Elliott and will be rebranded as NORTHWEST MECCA GYM KEIGHLEY.
The Gym will close Friday 28th March for a complete refurb and installation of new equipment.
The anticipated re-opening/Launch of new business is early May.
All current paid-up members will have their membership frozen and will re-start again when the new Gym opens.
From me and the Workouts team we'd like to thank all our members, present and past who have supported the Gym through the past 35 years and we can look forward to a new chapter to add to our legacy.

Sauna Sunday…Ladies will have the use of their Sauna on Sundays starting 11th February! The Sauna will currently only be available on Sundays for the time being. A quick reminder that shoes and clothing must be removed before using the sauna (we recommend wearing a towel or swimwear).
For hygiene reasons please shower before use.

To cater for all members during Ramadan, the gym will be open for an additional two and a half hours between 9pm and 11:30pm (Monday - Friday only) from 23rd March - 22nd April.
Please note - for any members wishing to train between these hours there will be an additional small charge of £15.00 to pay up front for the month.
Tom Kerr's 8 week transformation!!
Tom was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2016, since then he has been on antidepressants and has struggled with his mental health. He has now been off the antidepressants for 8 weeks. He found that dog walking and exercise has helped with his mental health.
His diet was poor and he was drinking more than he should have been. Starting from the 19/10/21 Tom has been resistance training 5 days per week.
Start weight - 76.6kg
Weight now- 70.5kg
This is an amazing achievement, Tom has shown courage through difficult times and not only acknowledged that a change in his lifestyle was needed but made the change for himself. Congratulations and a massive well done from us!!!
With the recent announcements from the government we are back and will be open from Wednesday the 2nd of December.
Due to being in tier 3 we will not be able to have group classes just yet but as the restrictions ease we hope this will change soon!
We will continue to use the booking system to ensure we keep everybody safe and limit numbers in the gym to stay within the guide lines.

Further to the announcement yesterday we will be running a booking system enabling you to book and secure your training sessions online. This will allow us to effectively limit the people in the gym and ensures you are able to train at your preferred time.
We kindly ask you only book the sessions you are able to attend and amend any bookings you’re not, to open up the slot to others. Please do not turn up to the gym if you haven’t booked in as we will have to turn you away.
The amended opening hours are below.
Monday: 6am - 8pm
Tuesday: 9am - 8pm
Wednesday: 6am - 8pm
Thursday: 9am - 8pm
Friday: 9am - 8pm
Saturday: 8am - 4pm
Sunday: closed
We will be reducing opening hours to begin with to allow extra cleaning after each shift and we be closed on sundays to allow for a deep COVID clean.

Members Update:
As everyone knows, COVID-19 has caused extremely difficult issues over the past months and many small businesses have had to close.
Workouts Healthclub is a small, family run gym with a fantastic history and loyal members.
However, given the fact that we have not received a single penny from the government in respect to grants or forlough money, the only way the club can re-open it's doors is with the support of our members.
Therefore, apart from Annual members who have time still running on their deal and the clients who have given us amazing support by continuing to pay their standing order monthly payments, anyone who wishes to train with us again will need to rejoin on one of the following, revised membership plans:
1 month - £35
Standing order 12 month contract - £30
Three months - £95
Following renewal we will add back a percentage of deferred/lost time due to lockdown closure on an individual basis.

The government has produced stringent guidelines for the re-opening of gym facilities and keeping you safe is a priority. Therefore social distancing, limited numbers attending and a new deep cleaning regime will take place.
In line with COVID-19 gymnasium operating guidelines, we will introduce additional gym rules to be observed by all members.
• A maximum of 15 members in the building at any one time.
• Time limit of 60 minutes stay.
• Social distancing of 1 metre at all times.
• Access the gym through the front entrance on Oakworth Road and leave through the rear reception door by the kitchen area - no other points of entry / exit allowed.
• Only members over the age of 18 will be able to use the gym.
• There will be no showering facilities available.
• There will be no sauna available.
• Clients are expected to bring their own sanitiser (to supplement the increased hand sanitiser we have supplied) and a personal hand towel

MEMBER NOTICE
As everyone is aware, the coronavirus is here and affecting all our lives.
The well-being of our members and team is of the utmost importance.
Until the government says otherwise, we will remain open and if you choose to come, we ask you to follow these guidelines. * Wash your hands regularly (especially before and after your visit)
* Avoid touching your face during your workout.
* Wipe the equipment with the antiseptic spray before and after use.
* Cover your nose & mouth with a tissue if coughing/sneezing.
* If you are feeling ill, please stay at home.
Your team will also be doing their best to keep your gym clean.

Do you only focus on traditional bench press? How about focus on other variations:
- Incline bench press. For this variation, the front of the bench is angled between 45 and 60 degrees so you are leaning back slightly. It targets muscles of the upper chest and shoulders.
- Decline bench press. For this variation, the front of the bench is angled upward, so when you lie down your feet are in a higher position than your head. It works the lower chest muscles and shoulders.
- Narrow grip bench press. During this variation, your hands are narrower together on the barbell. It works the triceps and forearms.

โช• Use oats- Porridge for breakfast is a great way to start your day, having soya milk provides more protein than other non-dairy options. You can add a scoop of vegan protein powder to boost it further. โฌ
โช• Use seeds- Chai and flax boost micronutrients and are great for omega- 3 fats. โฌ
โช• Nuts- Nuts help maintain energy and provide protein. They are high in antioxidants (lutein & zeaxanthin) and they contain Vitamin E. โฌ
โช• Vitamins- Try include foods which contain vitamins such as B12. Most soya milk is fortified and mushrooms contain B12. โฌ
โช• Include Iron- Iron is essential for red blood cells and enzymes. Lots of vegetables contain iron especially leafy greens such as spinach but the body isn’t always good at absorbing it. โฌ
4 fruits you should eat everyday:
Pears are a good source of pectin. They are full of flavonols and flavan-3-ols, flavonoids are suited to protecting against gaining weight and type 2 diabetes. A fresh pair provides almost a quarter of your daily fibre!
Strawberries are packed with a variety of antioxidants. Studies show that a few ounces of strawberries reduce inflammation and increased blood sugar levels.
Apples contain flavonoid polymers which includes enzymes that help break down simple sugars so instead of storing sugar as fat it’s released out of your system.
Blueberries colour comes from the high concentration of flavonoid known as anthocyanin which helps prevent cancers, heart disease and inflammation. It also helps the maintenance of weight.
